Resilient Bath Implementation
The City of Bath City Council unanimously adopted the Resilient Bath Climate Action and Resilience Plan in November 2024. In the plan, the City of Bath identified over 55 actions within this plan and developed 10 ‘implementation blueprints’ for near-term, priority actions.
With funding from the Maine Community Resilience Partnership, Siler Climate Consulting partnered with the City to sustain momentum from this planning process by implementing priority actions and building longer-term municipal and community capacity to achieve the goals, strategies, and actions identified in the plan over time.
A few highlights:
Siler Climate Consulting designed a public dashboard for the Resilience Bath Climate Action Plan. The dashboard promotes accountability and transparency by providing updates on the implementation of actions in the plan. The dashboard also provides recommendations for what residents and businesses can do as partners in making progress towards Bath’s emissions reductions and climate adaptation goals.
Siler Climate Consulting created a prioritization tool for municipal staff, boards, and committees to use as they implement the Resilient Bath Climate Action Plan. The step-by-step prioritization process creates a standard approach to focusing capacity and resources on actions in the plan based on emissions reduction impact, climate adaptation impact, equity, and feasibility.
Siler Climate Consulting facilitated the Bath Equity Council, which brought together residents and service providers in Bath to inform the design of outreach and engagement. The Equity Council contributed an awareness of the lived experiences among Bath’s aging population, youth, working families, and community members experiencing housing insecurity - an awareness that is essential to ensuring these community members benefit from municipal climate adaptation programs and services.
In partnership with the Equity Council and the Sagadahoc County Emergency Management Agency, Siler Climate Consulting designed a Neighborhood Resilience Handbook designed for neighbors and community members in Bath to plan together for their safety before, during, and after weather-related disruptions. The handbook was piloted with youth from Midcoast Youth Center as well as residents of Bath Housing to inform the final design and information.
