Aashka Patel (she/her)

Independent Contractor

Aashka has over a decade of experience informing public sector planning and environmental decision making for climate adaptation and resilience. As a consultant, she has partnered with numerous local and regional governments to produce actionable analyses, facilitate multisector strategy development, and identify pathways to implementation. She is adept at centering community needs and strengths in government-led efforts. This includes designing fit-for-purpose community engagements; weaving lived experiences with quantitative assessments to illuminate disproportionate climate impacts and inform more equitable distribution of investments; and helping identify and advance solutions that address social equity goals.

In her prior role at Fernleaf, she advanced the breadth and rigor with which the team considered systemic drivers of climate vulnerability across its service offerings, tools, and projects. More recently, at ICF, she led projects to integrate climate readiness into workforce development and to develop monitoring and evaluation plans for flood mitigation projects.

She holds a Master's in Environment Research Management from the University of South Carolina. Her consulting approach is informed by her doctoral research and training focused on climate services, decision-making under deep uncertainty, and adaptation implementation science.
